Interventions at Vellakulam Village

On 11th December 2021 we distributed groceries kits at Vellakulam village , we followed same
methodology as MIJARC we gathered 32 selected families at the community hall and given some
orientation about post covid 19 situation in India and Tamilnadu. We requested them to take the
groceries kits according to the order not to rush. We called them by names one by one
after the interventions we taken a group photo, some of the kits was supplied to their
houses due to lack of transportation and work schedule of the workers
Beneficiaries of the village
Second Phase:
pandemic and the need for personal hygiene and physical distance. People were advised to make use of the given material for their daily living
and movements. COVID-19 has affected communities, business and organizations everywhere globally, inadvertently affecting the financial markets
and the global economy. Uncoordinated governmental responses and lockdowns have led to a disruption in the supply chain. The food sector, including
food distribution and retailing, has been put under strain because of people panic-buying and stockpiling food. This has led to increased concerns
about shortages of food products such as milk, cultivated items, rice and vegetables. Panic-buying has resulted in many things.
The confirmed cases per million population in the state was 778.35, as against 756.61 in the country, as on Friday. The recovery rate stood at
49.94 per cent as against 63.33 per cent at the national level. The number of tests conducted so far stood at 12, 60,512 with 23,605 tests being
conducted per million population. However, there were several complaints of delay in the announcement of test results.
Telangana
The latest study published in the medical Journal “Lancet” has listed Telangana as one of the three top states in India that is most vulnerable.
Hanamakonda: The new district of Telangana is in the Diocese of Warangal comprises of two civil districts, Warangal, and Karimnagar.
Warangal is one of the renowned districts of Telangana region and stands next to Hyderabad. The district of Warangal lies in between the states
of Madhya Pradesh and Orissa border in the northeast. The surrounding districts in Andhra Pradesh are Karimnagar in the northwest, Khammam in the
southeast, Nalgonda in the south and Medak in the west. The City of Warangal enjoyed a glorious past.
There was complete lockdown with no means of transportation for both migrant workers and civilians. Many people were in panicky and wanted to leave
for their respective villages with no work or income at hand. They couldn’t meet their basic needs.
On 3rd November 2021 MIJARC ASIA Volunteers distributed groceries to informal and migrant
workers at Pastoral centre, Hanamakonda .The number of beneficiaries is 46 families that have
been given items like Rice, Cereals, Oil, vegetables, masks and 13 volunteers are involved in it.
The poor and the migrant workers were identified as there are many more and volunteers
checked the temperature through digital thermometer, following the terms and conditions of
social distance.
Local government leaders and Rev.Fr. Kamal Pastoral Centre director, Sr. Elisamma social service
in charge MIJARC president Mr. Krishnakar Kummari and volunteers of MIJARC were attended
and appreciated the good work of MIJARC ASIA
I’m a migrant construction worker with daily wages. Due to this sudden
lockdown I abruptly lost work , wages and as a conquence food. I am also
lost with no means of going back to my nativce village. Life became
miserable and we sufferred much hunger. At this stage MIJARC ASIA
supported us with groceries in real time we are grateful to the donars….
